In Malta the VAT hangs off what you buy, not off where you eat it. Everything the pastizzeria prepares and serves carries 18 %, at the table or in a bag. Packaged food from the larder — a jar of honey, capers, sea salt, a loaf — carries 0 %, and packaged sweets 5 %. The prices already include it.
